Summer in Finland
June 19th, 2010 by TatuThe Reykjavik Arts Festival is over, great concert and very nice porgram. Now the work continues in Finland.
There are few projects going on for the summer. The accordion master class will be in it’s place in June. It is already 10th time when we gather together for 5 days. This year seems to be the most popular, there are over 20 people coming so the teachers are now four instead of three.
I performed with my brother Taito Kantomaa at Hiljaisuus festival in Kaukonen. Our project is about combining an interactive soundscape with live music. Very interesting idea that not many people have done.
Lastly the biggest project this summer is a theater play “Pieni kansani laulu“. The historical story is about people moving to Lapland, how villages grow and what kind of people live there. The music is composed by Jari Vanha and will be performed by the choir (actors) and a small group, bass, piano and accordion. The premier will be in August and performances will continue through September.
