Christmas Concerts with Björgvin Halldórsson
Reykjavik Stadium (Laugardalshöll) was sold out, not once but three times! About 9000 guests saw the Christmas concert of Björgvin Halldórsson on 8th and 9th of December. The concert was called “Jólagestir Björgvins Halldórssonar” and the guests were: Sigríður Beinteisdóttir, Svala Björgvinsdóttir, Helgi Björnsson, Stefán Hilmarsson, Eyjólfur Kristjánsson, Friðrik Ómar, Erna Hrönn Ólafsdóttir, Björgvin Franz, Ragnar Bjarnason, Edgar Smári and Bjarni Arason. Þórir Baldursson arranged the music for a male choir (Fóstbræður), gospel choir (Gospelkór Reykjavíkur) and children choir (Barnakór Kársnesskóla); 18 piece string orchestra played beautifully and all this accompanied by a rhytm section: drums, bass, 3 guitars, 3 keyboards, 3 backing vocals and an accordion. Truly a memorable and amazing event… “It’s beginning to look a lot like christmas”.
